Oregon Offering a Mental Health Program for It’s Corrections Officers

April 28, 2017

Often overlooked, corrections officers are generally expected to endure just about anything imaginable as far as physical and mental health is concerned. They must mentally prepare themselves, daily, to the fact that they may not walk out of work and go home that evening.

They are trained to ensure that of hundreds of inmates are kept safe. Lives are on the line daily, including their own. In fact, statistics show that 31% of all corrections officers suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), comparable on a percentage basis to veteran’s returning from war.

The State of Oregon decided that they needed to do something about this issue. They are implementing a  Mental Health Program For Its Corrections Officers.

We here at Hooray Cafe would like to take time to thank law enforcement, emergency response, and military personnel for being so brave, day in and day out, in order to serve and protect us. You are so appreciated and valued. Thank You!!!
