Traveling can be stressful, for many reasons. The rush, the Olympic sport of attempting to get through the TSA line on the first time, the people, the moods, the delays, etc. It can all take a toll on a person. Traveling with a child simply adds to these common irritants, and them some, such as extra bathroom breaks, meals, fidgeting in line, and one extra body to get through the TSA gauntlet.
Now imagine traveling with brand new twins, and being told that you have to get off the plane, after going through all of the above, and finally reaching your seat. Well, that just about takes the cake, and borders along the lines of a worst case scenario for any traveler, falling just short of the plane itself crashing.
For one woman, this was exactly what happened, according to fashion and lifestyle blogger, Mackenzie Murphy, as she recounted the events that took place in front of her on a very crowded plane earlier this month. Mackenzie uploaded the following on Facebook. It immediately started to make its rounds through social media.
“Yesterday, this woman on my flight had twin babies, probably under 6 months, not so sure of the age. It was a very packed flight so they started taking carry on luggage to store under the plane. A gate worker took this woman’s car seat, meaning she would now have to hold both babies since they weren’t old enough to sit up on their own in a seat.”
As soon as the mother sat down, the flight attendant told the woman that she wasn’t allowed to hold on to both babies, as it would be a safety hazard. It appears that the mother’s original intention was for one of her twins to sit in the car seat next to her, which airlines will allow if there are open seats on the flight. Since the flight was fully packed, this poor mom was told that she would have to leave.
She then went on to say what we all wanted to hear as soon as we started reading her post. Her faith in humanity was restored, as somebody stepped forward. Somebody was brave and spoke up on this woman’s behalf. A complete stranger quite possibly saved this woman from one of the worst and most stressful days of her life. Not only did she speak up, she took it one step further and taught not only a lesson in kindness, but in motherhood as well. You can read the full Blog Post by Mackenzie here. It is definitely a heartwarming story that needs to be shared.
It does make one stop and think, however, had there not been a blogger on that flight would this story have surfaced? I know we here at Hooray Cafe are pleased that it did, so we can officially tell the kind woman that stepped in “Thank you!” Humanity needs more people like you!
